University Canada West’s Senior Leadership Team has made the decision to hold the first two weeks of the Winter (January) 2021 Term online.

British Columbia’s latest public health order restricting social gatherings with people outside one’s household, and many other activities, expires at midnight on Friday, January 8.

The Winter 2021 Term is scheduled to start on Monday, January 11, but UCW’s Senior Leadership Team has decided to hold the first two weeks of the term online and return to on-campus classes on Monday, January 25.

“While there is reason for optimism regarding the pandemic in Vancouver and British Columbia, the curve seems to be flattening and BC got its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine, our decision to delay the start of on-campus classes seems like the prudent course of action,” said UCW President Brock Dykeman.

UCW will continue to monitor the situation and will continue to work with the local health authority and the BC Ministry of Advance Education to ensure we reopen the campus in a safe and responsible manner with comprehensive safety measures in place to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff.

As scheduled, New Student Orientation for the Winter 2021 Term will be conducted online January 4-8, 2021.
