We are preparing to reopen UCW in a physically distant and responsible manner.

The UCW Senior Management Team and a dedicated Pandemic Response Committee have been working on a phased reopening plan.

We are proposing a blended learning approach which we may implement for the Summer Term. Tier 1 and Tier 2 MBA students, first-year undergraduate students and MBA Foundation students in Vancouver could study part-time on-campus as well as online. Students not in Vancouver will be able to complete their term online.

The Summer Term starts on July 20 and we intend to responsibly reopen the campus to students when it is safe to do so.

We will be posting our detailed reopening plan on our website and will share it with all current and incoming students, as well as staff and faculty. You can rest assured that the safety of everyone at University Canada West is our top priority as we develop plans to welcome you back to campus.

We will be taking a number of safety precautions. All classrooms will accommodate physical distancing so a limited number of students will be in each class. We will stagger the class times and take other measures to ensure that physical distancing is maintained in common areas. Hand sanitizer will be available at all campus entrances and in each classroom.

Similarly, our regular cleaning will be more frequent and will include the disinfection of high-touch areas such as stair railings and doorknobs. In addition, a sanitizing clean will take place between each class in each classroom. We will be rolling out additional safety measures in our detailed reopening plan.

We will continue to follow the advice from BC’s Public Health Officer, the Ministry of Advanced Education, WorkSafeBC and the City of Vancouver.

We look forward to welcoming our students back to campus in a limited manner starting next term. We will continue to provide the support and resources you need to succeed in your studies. Please stay safe and we wish you all the best.

Sincerely,
Brock Dykeman, UCW President
