The Blockchain Project Management Certificate Program is an online, three-module (90-hour) educational series focused on preparing graduates to understand blockchain, project management, and how to apply the principles of project management to blockchain and cryptocurrency projects.

At the end of the program, attendees should leave with the knowledge, vocabulary and skills needed to successfully manage blockchain and cryptocurrency projects in professional situations.

Admission Requirements

  • You need a computer (with at least 8 GB RAM and 100 GB free space) Linux, Mac or Windows
  • Access to the internet
  • English language proficiency
  • Experience in blockchain or project management is useful but not necessary.

Delivery Modes

Blockchain Project Management Certificate Program – Blended

  • 3 modules – 90 hours
  • 9 week course, 3 weeks per module

Upon completion and obtaining a passing grade of 60% in each of the modules, students are eligible to write the Foundational Technologies Institute exam (at a discounted price) to achieve the professional designation of Blockchain Project Management Professional (BPMP™️).

There are three levels in this program:

This module is designed to provide the student with a foundational understanding of blockchain and cryptocurrency. It is not a fully certificated blockchain course, and it does not cover the in-depth technology of blockchains, however, it does provide a basic understanding so the student can begin the journey of exploring the biggest technological advancement since the internet.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Describe the origin of blockchain technology.
  • Define blockchain including its purpose.
  • Describe the difference between public, private, consortium and permissioned blockchain networks.
  • Explain the purpose of cryptocurrencies.
  • Define how cryptocurrencies fit into the digital economy.
  • Understand the concept of “Disruptive Technologies” and how it applies to blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
  • Explore multiple opportunities to use blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Week 1 – Introduction Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies

Week 2 – Introduction to Networks and Platforms

Week 3 – Blockchain Real World Use Cases

The goal of this module is to provide you with project management methods, skills, tools and techniques that will help you learn how to successfully plan and manage projects while providing value to your organization.

The content aligns with the Project Management Institute’s, A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide).

It is specifically designed to focus on the practical application of concepts that are the foundation for project success in the working world.

As you proceed through this course you will build a solid foundation of project management knowledge, techniques and tools that cover the entire project life cycle.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completing this module, you will be able to:

  • Explain what project management is.
  • Explain the steps in the project life cycle and the value/purpose of each one.
  • Explain how a project gets started.
  • Perform the steps required to determine the critical path for a project.
  • Explain project management in the context of business.
  • Define the components of the success triangle.
  • Explain the common terms used in project management.
  • Determine strategies for involving and engaging stakeholders.
  • Determine the true cost and effort that a project takes for it to be successful.
  • Determine what approach to use for calculating a budget.
  • Apply a strategy/process to ensure you have the skills required to be successful.
  • Determine what work needs to be done to be successful.
  • Identify and plan for impacts to your project (risk management).
  • Utilize templates to assist you in documenting a project.
  • Explain the purpose and value of including Lessons Learned in your project.
  • Take an active role in the management of projects.
  • Decide if project management is for you.

Course Content:

Week 1 to 1.5 (10 days) – Introduction to Project Management

Week 1.5 to 3 (11 days) – The 10 Steps to Successful Projects

This final module in the Project Management for Blockchain Certificate Program is where the student combines their understanding of blockchain technology with the discipline of project management to simulate the steps required to manage a blockchain project.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Explain, understand and create all necessary documents to ensure your project will be successful.
  • Demonstrate a working model for running a blockchain project.

Week 3 – Present your Project

Note: 

  • You can use your own project or use the assigned project.
  • All templates will be provided, or you can use your own.
  • Each student will record their presentation and submit it for evaluation and marking.
