To be eligible for the PMP exam, you must meet one of the following criteria:

• Option 1: A four-year degree + 36 months of project management experience + 35 hours of project management education (covered in this course).

• Option 2: A high school diploma + 60 months of project management experience + 35 hours of project management education


If you’re not yet eligible for the PMP exam, the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification can be an excellent starting point. CAPM certification offers foundational project management skills and serves as a stepping stone toward the PMP. Please review PMI’s eligibility requirements carefully before registering.

No, the PMP Certification Course is not part of MBA or bachelor’s program electives. It is a professional development course designed to prepare you specifically for the PMP certification exam, independent of academic degree programs at UCW.


Students who have already obtained their PMP certification may be eligible for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR). This process evaluates individual backgrounds, prior experiences and qualifications to determine if they meet academic credit standards. However, eligibility for PLAR cannot be guaranteed as it depends on the University’s decision and a personalized assessment of your education, work experience and others. We recommend consulting the MyUCW Student Portal for more information about the PLAR process.
