Awards & Scholarships
University Canada West (UCW) entrance awards, scholarships and grants are available to new students applying to a UCW undergraduate or graduate program. Students currently studying at UCW may be eligible to apply for continuing student Awards.
You can receive only one (1) award, scholarship, grant or continuing student award if eligible (limited exceptions apply, see below for details).

Entrance Awards
University Canada West entrance awards are available to new students approved for admission to either undergraduate or graduate programs at UCW.
- You can receive only ONE (1) entrance award (limited exceptions apply, see below for details).
- If you are eligible for multiple automatically awarded awards, then you will receive the award with the highest value.
- Students taking online programs are not eligible for these awards, unless specified.
- Applicants with conditional offers are not eligible to qualify for an award until they fulfill the conditions for full (i.e. unconditional) admission.
- Award recipients are expected to act as ambassadors for UCW and participate in outreach and alumni engagement initiatives.
- All awards are disbursed as tuition credit.
- New Student Orientation (NSO), ENGL 080, and any repeat course attempts are not eligible courses for disbursal payments (even if taken within the disbursal period).
The following awards are bestowed automatically. That is, no award application is required as these awards will be granted at point of admission (if eligibility is met).
The Aspire Global Graduate Grant allows new international MBA students to pay the equivalent of domestic tuition fees when starting their studies at UCW in Fall 2025 Term, or any term in 2026.
Applicable Programs: Master of Business Administration
Eligibility: This grant is open to all international students.
Award Value: Qualifying students are eligible to pay the equivalent of domestic tuition fees.
Disbursal: Disbursements will commence from the first term of enrolment as a tuition credit.
Conditions:
- The student must commence their program before their offer for admission expires.
- The student must not change programs.
- The student must pay all fees (that are not covered by the award) by their respective due dates.
- The student must maintain good academic standing.
- The student must maintain a full-time enrolment status.

Eligibility: This grant is open to international applicants pursuing a bachelor's degree at UCW.
Award Value:
Disbursal: Disbursements will commence from the first term of enrolment (excluding any terms with preparatory courses).
Conditions:
- The student must commence their program before their offer for admission expires. This award can be removed without notice, unless the student has already received their LOA.
- The student must not change programs.
- The student must pay all fees (that are not covered by the award) by their respective due dates.
- The student must maintain good academic standing.
- The student must maintain a full-time enrolment status.
The student will receive a pro-rated award based on the number of credits required to complete their program. If the student received transfer credits (including PLAR) at admission or during their studies, their award amount will be adjusted accordingly.

Eligibility: This award is open to domestic applicants who are either active members, reservists, or veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)* or CF One members. Students taking online programs are not eligible for this award. This award is part of the CF One Member Appreciation Program, which was created to promote a variety of exclusive and meaningful discounts to the Canadian Forces Community and their families, one million strong, in recognition of their sacrifices and dedication.
*A copy of the members CF One Card must be submitted with the initial application to be considered for this offer.
Award Value: Recipients will receive a 30% lower tuition rate in recognition of their service to this country.
Disbursal: The award will be applied as a discount to all courses within the program plan.

Eligibility: This grant is open to new international students, who have been residing in Canada for at least one year and/or completed a qualification in Canada, and are applying to UCW from within Canada.

The following awards are reviewed and awarded through an application process (i.e. non-automatically). These awards may be limited, and eligibility does not guarantee approval.
- Award applications must be received a minimum 30-days before the applicant’s program start date.
- Award applications must be complete to be considered as meeting this deadline.
- Applicants may submit their award applications either when applying for admission or after receiving admission approval.
- Award applications are not reviewed until after all required documents have been received.
- The Registrar’s Office may request additional documents before determining an outcome for an award application.

Eligibility: Student must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee with protected status at the time of application.
This scholarship is applicable for both online and Hybrid Mode (in-person and online guided learning) studies. The scholarship recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of two courses.

Award applicants need to submit a personal Statement (maximum 200 words). It should explain how their program supports their career goals. In addition, they should describe a leadership role they've taken in a school, community or professional setting.
Award Value:
A student may only qualify for one UCW major award.
Disbursal: Disbursements will commence from the first term of enrolment (excluding any terms with preparatory courses*).
Conditions:
- Students must meet admissions requirements.
- The student must fill out the Access to Education Grant application form.
- The student must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of application.
- The student must commence their program before their offer for admission expires.
- The student must not change programs.
- The student must pay all fees (that are not covered by the grant) by their respective due dates.
- The student must maintain good academic standing.

Eligibility: This grant is for recent high school graduates only. Secondary school applicants who have graduated from a British Columbia secondary school (high school) or equivalent are required to have, at minimum, the equivalent of a BC high school (Grade 12) diploma, with an overall average of C.
This scholarship is applicable for both online and Hybrid Mode (in-person and online guided learning) studies. The scholarship recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of two courses.

- Must be a hockey player in an organized hockey league.
- Preference will be given to individuals with Indigenous status as defined by the Government of Canada.
- Must qualify for admission to an undergraduate program or the MBA program at UCW.
Award Value: Full tuition coverage up to a maximum of $40,600.
Disbursal: Disbursements will commence from the first term of enrolment (excluding any terms with preparatory courses*).
Conditions:
- The applicant must be a hockey player in an organized hockey league.
- The applicant must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of application.
- Preference will be given to applicants with proof of Indigenous status as defined by the Government of Canada.
- The applicant must commence their program before their offer of admission expires.

Eligibility: Domestic students who reside in Lytton, BC or have been directly involved in the recovery efforts of Lytton, BC since June 2021
Award Value: 100% Tuition discount

Eligibility: This award is open to domestic applicants from a Canadian Indigenous community (specifically First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples).
Applicants must be approved for either the Summer or Fall intakes.
Award Value:
A maximum of one (1) Indigenous student will be awarded a full tuition scholarship every year.

Eligibility: Eligible alumni must be a UCW graduate from a degree program at UCW at any time after July 2017 and have been admitted to study a new Bachelor or Master program at UCW. Alumni are defined as individuals who have received an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree from University Canada West.

Disbursal: Full disbursal will be made on first term of enrolment as a tuition credit (excluding any terms with preparatory courses)

Eligibility: This award is open to domestic applicants who demonstrate the following (at the time of the award application):
- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency (at the time of application); and,
- Graduation from high school within the past 12 months with a minimum cumulative grade point average (4.00).
Additionally, applicants may be contacted by UCW for an interview before determining an outcome for an award application.
Applicants must be approved for either the Summer or Fall intakes.
Award Value: A maximum of twenty (20) students will be awarded a full tuition scholarship every year.

Continuing Students Awards
University Canada West continuing awards are available to students currently studying either undergraduate or graduate programs at UCW.
- You can receive only ONE (1) continuing student award.
- Students who were recipients of an entrance award are not eligible for a continuing student award.
- Students taking online programs are not eligible for these awards.
- Award recipients are expected to act as ambassadors for UCW and participate in outreach and alumni engagement initiatives.
- All awards are disbursed as tuition credit.
- Repeat course attempts are not eligible courses for disbursal payments (even if taken within the disbursal period).
The following award is reviewed and bestowed through an award application process (i.e. non-automatically). These awards may be limited, and eligibility does not guarantee approval.
Applicable Programs: Master of Business Administration
Eligibility: This award is open to both domestic applicants and international applicants who have excellent academic achievement in their MBA qualification with UCW. Students must have completed 27 credits with a minimum 3.80 cumulative grade point average*.
*The CGPA achievement is calculated by only using the grade points of the first 27 credits completed for the MBA degree program (including transfer credits).
