UCW recently hosted Mexican Government Delegates representing two of the nation’s high-profile post-secondary institutions.

The delegates were from Tecnológico Nacional de México en Celaya and Instituto Tecnológico de Durango. UCW’s sister institution, the Language Gallery Canada (TLGC), coordinated the five-day event.

The delegates participated in a series of meetings, presentations and learned about students’ first-hand experiences as well as the educational offerings at UCW and TLG Canada.

They also learned more about UCW’s Americas Tuition, which allows students from North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean to study at University Canada West at tuition rates normally reserved for domestic students.

The delegates also participated in a series of events in Victoria and Vancouver as a way to showcase why students should choose Canada and Vancouver as a top educational destination.

The group met with UCW president Brock Dykeman and GUS Canada CEO Cyndi McLeod.

“This was a wonderful initiative that allowed these government officials to learn more about what University Canada West and The Learning Gallery Canada can offer Mexican students looking to study abroad,” Brock said. “It was a very successful visit and we look forward to welcoming even more Mexican students to UCW.”

UCW was honoured that Berenice Díaz Ceballos, Consul General of Mexico in Vancouver, attended a meeting with our delegates and the closing lunch.

The initiative is expected to further the institutions’’ recruitment efforts in Mexico.
