As part of the GUS Cares initiative to help the most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic, University Canada West (UCW) has delivered 160 essential care packages to United Way of the Lower Mainland.

UCW Academic Advisor Dhanya Arvind led the project, which included the purchase of supplies and assembly of the care packages by student volunteers. Each package includes personal care products, masks and disinfectant wipes.

The packages will be delivered to people in need by community organizations, including Archway Community Services in Abbotsford, Collingwood Neighbourhood House in Vancouver, Sources in Surrey and South Vancouver Neighbourhood House in Vancouver.

The partnership with United Way of the Lower Mainland mirrors a related GUS Cares project in Toronto, where Toronto School of Management delivered 160 care packages to United Way’s Toronto Community Centre.

GUS Cares is comprised of the five institutions in the Global University Systems (GUS) Canada family: University Canada West, Toronto School of Management, The Language Gallery Canada, Trebas Institute and the Canadian College of Technology and Business.
