Biography:
Vy Luu has an MBA in Executive Management, along with graduate certificates in International Business & Innovation, and Human Resources Management. She is PROSCI Change Management and Project Management Professional (PMP) certified.
Vy is a student, teacher, and practitioner in People and Organization Culture, with designations in the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and the Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
She currently teaches HRMT 622 – Talent Management at University Canada West.
Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that people are diverse in their learning abilities and motivations. Her classes are student-centered and include a variety of learning approaches, with stories of applying research theories in life and workplaces. Vy strives to creatively teach in ways that inspire learners to reach for more learning beyond the classroom.
Expertise and Experience
Vy describes herself as a knowledge explorer with a passion for understanding traditional practices well, while in pursuit of modernization.
She pivoted from business operations to HR to humanize leadership and increase workplace capabilities. Vy’s work experience over the last two decades gave her a deep understanding of business operations, technology development and people’s experience.
Collaborative, inspiring and meticulous in crafting exceptional results, she has turned around failing projects, launched new product lines and implemented workplace practices. Vy’s team and planning work had outcomes of double-digit improvements in workflows, product quality and employee engagement.
Her tenacity propelled her into technology and business innovation work with global companies across retail, entertainment, travel, financial, real estate, and consulting industries. Vy’s executive partnership experience brings diverse stories of organizational leadership through startup, growth, maturity and renewal phases into her HR classrooms at University Canada West and Ashton College.
