Olabode Akindele has a B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering, a PGD in Building and an M.Sc. in Construction Technology. He became a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in 2002 and a certified Construction Project Management Professional (Pr. CPM) in South Africa in 2005. He has been a Project Management Institute (PMI) member since 2010 and received his PMP certification in 2019.

Expertise and Experience

Olabode has over 15 years of cumulative teaching and research experience and over 12 years of hands-on industry experience in construction and project management. He taught in the School of Construction Economics and Management, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, before immigrating to Canada as a visiting scholar for a short period at the University of Calgary. Olabode was initially a Sessional Faculty at UCW. At the same time, he was also a Contract Instructor in project management at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and a partner at Bokem Multiproject Consulting Inc. in Edmonton, Alberta. He joined UCW as a continuing faculty member in 2024, teaching project management.

Olabode comes to class with broad-based field experience in construction and project management. His teaching philosophy is characterized by a mixture of theory and practice, using a case study approach coupled with multi-model teaching strategies to accommodate different learners’ requirements.

He currently teaches MGMT 640: Project Management at UCW.

Volunteer Activities

Olabode has volunteered several times with his local PMI chapter, facilitating revision sessions for members preparing for the PMP exam.

Scholarly Activities

Olabode is currently conducting a study on innovative practices among construction SMEs as part of the requirements for the award of a Doctor of Business Administration (project management specialization) degree at Walden University, Columbia, MD, USA. In addition, he is at the preliminary stage of research towards improving the productivity, sustainability, and competitive advantage of small and medium-sized enterprises among the Canadian Indigenous communities.

He has several academic publications, has co-edited peer-reviewed conference proceedings and has authored several non-fiction books.
