Mostafa Javanmehri
Mostafa Javanmehri has a bachelor’s degree in physics, and a master’s degree in Geophysics with a specialization in Earthquake Seismology.
Expertise and Experience
Mostafa is a distinguished academic with expertise in physics, geophysics, computer science and data analysis. His research and teaching interests include Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geophysics and seismology, and he is actively engaged in developing new courses in these fields.
His work and research within the Iranian Seismological Network — covering one of the most earthquake-prone regions in the Middle East — provided him with extensive, hands-on experience in seismic monitoring and analysis.
Following his graduate studies, he gained significant field experience as a professional geophysicist. In 2013, he joined the Earth Sciences Department at Simon Fraser University (SFU) as a Research Associate, where he contributed to various research projects and published his findings.
Committed to interdisciplinary learning, Mostafa pursued further studies in computer science, data analysis, and GIS. His academic career spans a broad range of subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Geography, Management Information Systems, Management Science, Statistics, Computer Literacy, and System Development. At University Canada West (UCW), he served as the Subject Lead for Science courses in 2020 and later held the role of Subject Lead for Physics and Geography from 2020 to 2024.
His research interests include GIS, astronomy, geophysics and seismology, with ongoing efforts to develop innovative courses in these areas.
