Stacie Chappell, PhD

Stacie Chappell, PhD is a leadership scholar, organizational development practitioner and the inaugural Dean of the School of Business and Management at University Canada West. Passionate about leadership development, she has worked with leaders, teams, and organizations across Canada, the USA, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia and Korea.

Stacie earned her PhD at the University of Western Australia, a Certificate in International Business from Denmark’s International Study Program, and a Bachelor of Commerce, Marketing from the University of British Columbia. In addition to numerous facilitation and organizational development certifications, she has a Professional Coach Accreditation (PCA) from the International Coach Federation.

Stacie is a longstanding member and past chair of the Management, Spirituality and Religion Division of the Academy of Management. Her community work has included serving on the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce Board, the program committee of the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance Summit and the governance committee of Leadership Vancouver Island.

Expertise and Experience

Stacie’s career began in organizational development and leadership coaching at the University of British Columbia before she moved into academic roles at the University of Western Australia and later Western New England University. She brings a rich perspective built on experiences at institutions in Canada and abroad over the past three decades along with a proven record of leadership in advancing innovative teaching, research and community engagement.

Publications and Scholarly Activity

Stacie’s research explores the inner journey of leadership, leadership effectiveness and innovative teaching approaches. A master facilitator and certified professional coach, she is the author of a book and numerous peer-reviewed articles on the “Classroom as Organization” methodology. She continues to explore its core principles—experimentation, reflection and authenticity—while also studying change implementation, the Giving Voice to Values framework, compassion in organizations and experiential learning.
