
Dr. Sepideh Tahriri Adabi
Dr. Seepideh Tahriri Adabi holds a PhD and MSc in Entomology, specializing in Ecology and Biological Control, along with a BSc in Plant Protection. She also has served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the toxicology lab within the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia. At UCW, she imparts knowledge in the subjects of Ecology and Biology.
As an educator, Dr. Adabi is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment that inspires critical engagement, active participation and the development of essential skills. Grounded in principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and Indigenization, her goal is to empower students as responsible global citizens with a lifelong commitment to sustainability and intellectual curiosity.
Expertise and Experience
A passionate educator with over a decade of expertise, Dr. Adabi brings a wealth of knowledge to her field. She has been actively instructing a range of subjects, such as Ecology, Biology, Sustainability, Entomology, Pest Management, Plant Pathology, Toxicology and Research in various universities across British Columbia and abroad.
Beyond her role as an educator, Dr. Adabi is an experienced research scientist and research team leader. She supervises students in different universities while actively leading research teams and overseeing student theses. Her primary focus is developing environmentally sustainable methods, with an overarching goal of creating biopesticides that minimize the adverse impacts on the environment and ecosystems.
Publications and Scholarly Activity
Dr. Adabi’s research prowess is evident in her role as the Principal Investigator of numerous research projects and as a collaborative partner with governments and industry stakeholders. Her research findings have been published in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences and symposia such as the Entomological Society of Canada and America, the International Congress on Invertebrate Pathology, the Canadian Phytopathological Society, and many others.
In addition to her research and academic contributions, Dr. Adabi actively serves as a reviewer of scientific papers and holds key roles in professional societies. She currently serves as the President of the Professional Pest Management Association of British Columbia, further showcasing her commitment to advancing the field and fostering collaboration within the scientific community.
