
Dr. Maryam Salahinejad
Biography:
Dr. Maryam Salahinejad has a PhD in Accounting from the Azad University, Science and Research Branch, Tehran, Iran. She is also a CPA from the Western School of Business, Vancouver, Canada, and a CIA from the International Internal Auditors.
In addition to these qualifications, she has completed a series of professional development programs to refine her expertise further.
Dr. Salahinejad is currently a Sessional Faculty member at University Canada West teaching Advanced Auditing, Internal and Operational Auditing, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting and Reporting, and Financial Management.
She believes in fostering critical thinking and enhancing understanding through real-world examples and practical exercises.
Expertise and Experience:
With over a decade of experience in teaching, researching, accounting and auditing, Dr. Salahinejad brings a wealth of knowledge to her students. She has held positions as an instructor at Cornerstone International Community College of Canada and a tutor at the Western School of Business. Her professional experience also includes roles as a Financial Controller at Highstreet Accommodations Ltd, Senior Accountant at Anthem properties Group and Controller at Renaissance Group. Her experience in these roles bolsters her expertise in IFRS, ASPE, GAAP, SOX and COSO frameworks, enhancing her ability to provide practical, industry-relevant teaching to her students.
Publications and Scholarly Activity:
Dr. Salahinejad has a significant academic footprint, with several published journal papers and conference presentations. Her work spans across topics like operational and internal auditing, corporate governance, and financial reporting among others. Additionally, she has supervised several MSc dissertations and served as a visiting professor at different universities.
Dr. Salahinejad’s active involvement in the academic environment ensures that she remains at the forefront of her field, and she brings these insights to her teaching at UCW.
