Dr. Anthony Masys

Biography:

Dr. Anthony J. Masys has a PhD (Social Sciences) from University of Leicester, a Master of Science (Underwater Acoustics and Oceanography) and a Bachelor of Science (Physics) from the Royal Military College of Canada.

He is sessional faculty at University Canada West teaching Business Environment, Ethics & Strategy. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of not only critical thinking but also integrative thinking in fostering a more holistic or systemic perspective of problem spaces. It challenges traditional notion of failure and replaces it with a growth mindset where students are encouraged to stretch and develop themselves.

Expertise and Experience

Dr. Masys is a senior defence scientist with the Centre for Security Science, Defence R&D Canada, Department of National Defence, served as scientific advisor to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and is a Visiting Professor with the International Centre for Policing and Security at the University of South Wales. He’s also an Affiliate Associate Professor and former Director of Global Disaster Management, Humanitarian Assistance and Homeland Security at the University of South Florida. Dr. Masys is also CEO and President of Anomaly Solutions (A Think and Do Tank).

Publications and Scholarly Activity

Dr. Masys has conducted research, lectures and workshops across five continents working with various security and public safety stakeholders to better understand global disasters and design resilience strategies for security and public safety.

Dr. Masys is Editor-in-Chief of Springer Series: 'Advanced Sciences and Technologies for Security Applications'. He has published extensively in the domains of physics and the social sciences. His books include:
