
Dr. Alaa Alakari
Dr. Alaa Alakari holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Victoria, an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Newcastle and a BSc in Computer Engineering from the College of Electronics Technology in Tripoli, Libya. In addition, he holds a Data Analyst certificate from IBM and is a certified Microsoft Trainer (MCT) and Microsoft Solution Developer (MCSD).
Dr. Alakari teaches Digital Transformation at UCW.
Dr. Alakari’s goal as an instructor is to impart his knowledge and share his experiences in digital transformation with his students, helping them achieve the best learning outcomes for a successful professional career.
Expertise and Experience
Dr. Alaa Alakari is a data scientist with over two decades of diverse experience in database systems, knowledge discovery and Big Data analytics. Following his MSc in computing science in 2002, Dr. Alakari had the opportunity to engage in numerous digital transformation projects for a wide range of organizations, spanning both government and private sectors.
In addition to his practical work, Dr. Alakari has taught numerous computer science courses, including programming languages, database systems and data analytics. Throughout his career, he has taught at Faculty of Computer Technology, Libya; Informations College, Libya; University of Victoria (TA), Canada; Columbia College, Canada; and the Canadian College of Technology and Business, Canada.
After completing his PhD in 2020, Dr. Alakari made the shift towards real-time BI by focusing his research on utilizing knowledge discovery techniques to identify Situations of Interest in near real-time.
