Adnan Sarwar
Biography:
Adnan Sarwar has an MBA in International Marketing and a Bachelor of Science in International Marketing from Hult International Business School. He is also certified by AHLEI - American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute in teaching the 12 AHLEI / AHLA courses of the Hospitality Management Diploma Programs.
He is currently a Full-Time Term faculty member at University Canada West teaching Marketing, Business and Hospitality Management courses.
Expertise and Experience
Adnan grew up in Bangladesh and found a role model and mentor, his father, who started multiple businesses and took him under his wing at a very early age. He also worked with 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Grameen Bank and Grameen Shakti. And his Karate Sensei Kazi Muhammad Qais inspired him to be a teacher and being a light for others.
After attending Hult International Business School in London, UK, he worked in investment banking for Merrill Lynch Bank of America and non-profit businesses.
He immigrated to Canada with little money and stared his own financial planning practice, specializing in advanced life insurance and investment strategies for families, professionals and corporations. He started a financial services marketing business in 2016 that now has offices in Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Richmond and Coquitlam.
Awards
Adnan was rated one of the best Instructors at Hanson College, CDI College, Vancouver Career College and has won many awards for community service with the local Greater Vancouver Bangladesh Cultural Association (GVBCA).
Volunteer Activity
Adnan does community volunteer work for the GVBCA, the Steveston Buddhist Temple as a Sunday school teacher for children, Strata Council Member where he lives, and he mentors several technology and start up entrepreneurs in Vancouver, Calgary, Richmond, Edmonton and Toronto offices. He is also an Advisory Board Member at the University of California, Riverside campus for the Design Thinking Program which enables the world’s best technology companies in the Silicon Valley to gain peak performance.
Adnan actively volunteers as a guest speaker at all UCW’s New Faculty Orientation (NFO) and New Student Orientation (NSO), and he helps his fellow faculty as a Center of Teaching Excellence (CTE) mentor.
