Delegated Authority from the Senate
The Committee does not have delegated authority from the Senate.
Responsibilities
The Teaching and Learning Committee is responsible for:
- Provide institutional oversight on matters related to teaching and learning. These include but are not limited to institutional learning goals, curriculum development and assessment, teaching and course evaluation processes, instructional development needs, teaching and learning spaces and technologies, and evolving teaching practices in the institution.
- Advise, guide and support relevant bodies and stakeholders, including Senate and its committees on issues in teaching, learning and related scholarship, the development or revision of policies and procedures that will advance teaching and learning, and initiatives that assess and influence the quality of teaching and learning experiences of our students.
- To consider matters related to teaching and learning across all campuses and diverse academic disciplines, referred to the Committee by Senate.
- Identify challenges and opportunities for faculty and learners that may be addressed or supported by the Centre for Teaching Excellence and other units.
- Receive reports and proposals, and provide guidance on the planning, implementation, evaluation and evolution of teaching and learning opportunities, supports, events, scholarship, initiatives and environments.
- Identify the forms of support and integrated planning needed to maintain excellence in teaching and learning and make recommendations to Senate and other bodies as needed (such as information technology, student services, accessibility, academic integrity, etc.).
Establish such subcommittees or working groups as needed to fulfill the Committee's responsibilities, as well as reporting mechanisms for these subcommittees;
