A University Canada West professor was recently recognized among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists.
Associate Professor Dr. Hamed Taherdoost is an award-winning leader in research and development, known for his contributions across both industry and academia.
He is the founder of Hamta Business Corporation. In addition, he is the Chair of Research and Scholarly Activities Committee at University Canada West, and Director of R&D at Q Minded | Quark Minded Technology Inc.
Dr. Taherdoost has a prolific publishing record, with more than 350 scientific articles in top-tier journals and conference proceedings. His work has placed him in the top 2% most-cited scientists in the world, according to Stanford University’s 2024 database.
“This is a remarkable achievement for Dr. Taherdoost and our University,” said UCW President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Bashir Makhoul.

The publicly available database provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator.
In the AI and Image Processing subfield, Dr. Taherdoost ranked 587th worldwide and 18th in Canada.
Dr. Hamed Taherdoost was also the recipient of the Sustained Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award at UCW’s Spring 2025 Convocation.
