Startup Grind UCW Chapter at University Canada West recently hosted Startup Grind Pitch Battle Royale.
Startup Grind Pitch Battle Royale is a high-energy pitch competition designed to spotlight bold founders, innovative startups and game-changing ideas at the early stages of growth. UCW Students and alumni competed across two stages – Idea and Development – with each presenting a pitch and receiving feedback from experienced judges.
“Hosting the Startup Grind Pitch Battle Royale at UCW was an inspiring experience for our entire community,” said Arif Shaikh, UCW Associate Professor and Co-Director of Startup Grind UCW Chapter. “The level of creativity, preparation and resilience demonstrated by our students was exceptional.”
Ma. Cecilia del Mundo, Founder of Codebrew, was the Development Stage Winner and Dominica Una, Founder of IzyMigrate, was the Idea Stage Winner. Their exceptional pitches and engaging Q&A with judges earned them top honours.

The winners moved on to compete globally in the semi-finals with the final taking place on March 4.
“Competitions like this not only showcase innovative ideas but also help founders refine their vision through real-time feedback from experienced industry leaders. We’re proud to support initiatives that empower our students and alumni to think boldly and compete on a global stage,” Arif added.
Thank you to the dedicated judges for their expertise and mentorship: Sir Darren Jacklin, Jason Yen, Alia Sunderji and Shantanu Mehta.
We are also grateful to our valued partners, volunteers, organizers, mentors and the Career Development Centre team for their continued support of our students and alumni.
