The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has officially recognized that UCW's MBA program (HR electives pathway and AI & ML Leadership specialization) is now academically aligned with SHRM's BASK (Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge) framework and academic guidelines.
UCW is now one of only eight Canadian universities academically aligned with SHRM. Our degree program is listed in SHRM’s HR Program Directory, and our alignment is valid from 2025 to 2029. Universities with SHRM-aligned HR programs may award Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for professional development activities or events offered to SHRM-certified professionals through the SHRM Recertification Provider Program.
“By integrating these specialized pathways and certifications, UCW's MBA program provides students with a multifaceted approach to human resources education, blending established HR practices with emerging trends in technology and leadership,” said Diljot Soin, Interim Dept Chair of Leadership and People Management.
“This holistic preparation not only supports students in meeting international certification standards but also empowers them to adapt to evolving global business environments and contribute effectively to organizational success in diverse sectors.”
UCW has also been approved as an SHRM Recertification Provider. This designation will allow the University to connect with students and the UCW community, as well as industry partners and HR professionals across Vancouver and beyond.
