Biography:

Wahiba Chair holds an MBA from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.

She is a Senior Marketing Strategist with focus on Digital + Social Media with over ten years of direct experience in technology, digital/social media marketing and communications in agency, start-up, and consultation capacities.

As an instructor at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, Wahiba delivered courses and boot camps to hundreds of students and professionals who wished to enhance their digital and social media marketing skills. Courses range from “Branding & Marketing in the Digital Age” and “How to Create a Winning Social Media Strategy” to “User Acquisition and Engagement”

Wahiba built her digital and social media skills as the founder of Carrotlines, Canada’s top mobile health and fitness platform. By working closely with targeted partners and sponsors including Canadian fitness celebrity, Tommy Europe, she built an engaged digital community of over 100,000 monthly active members and catapulted the mobile app to a Top 10 category listing on iTunes in two consecutive years.

As a computer engineer, Wahiba creates practical business solutions using a combination of business strategy skills, engineering acumen and solid digital marketing skills. Past/present clients have ranged from start-ups like Auto Stitch App (acquired by Google) to global brands like Toyota.

Wahiba teaches Marketing and Communications at University Canada West. Her goal is to provide students with up-to-date, practical knowledge that will ignite passion, enhance learning and further career goals.

Expertise and Experience

Most recently, Wahiba was the lead social media strategist for the 2017 BC General Election which resulted in a 67.61% increase in advance voter turnout and one of the highest online engagement rates (1M+ engagements) of any past Canadian provincial election.

As a senior strategist, Wahiba has helped companies & ranging from start-ups to global brands like Toyota & maximize results through integrated digital marketing and communications. In 2017, she was the lead digital communications strategist for the BC General Election, which resulted in one million-plus engagements and a 67% increase in advance voter turnout.

Wahiba has taught digital marketing and communications at top Canadian universities, including the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University.

Wahiba has been quoted as an industry expert by the Vancouver Sun, CBC and CTV News.
