Dr. Shireen Al-Hourani
Dr. Shireen Al-Hourani holds a PhD in Engineering and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). She currently serves as Associate Professor and Course Lead for Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Transportation Management, and Procurement and Inventory Management courses in the MBA program at University Canada West (UCW). Dr. Al-Hourani’s teaching approach blends practical application with academic rigor. She is passionate about empowering students through real-world learning, ethical leadership and continuous innovation in the classroom.
Expertise and Experience
Dr. Al-Hourani brings two decades of rich combined academic and industry experience. She has held senior leadership roles in multinational pharmaceutical companies, with expertise in operations and supply chain optimization, lean manufacturing, GMP compliance, engineering leadership and capital project management. Prior to joining UCW, she taught at reputable institutions including King Abdulaziz University and the German Jordanian University. Her academic portfolio spans a wide range of business and engineering courses such as Operations Management, Project Management, Supply Chain, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Industrial Engineering Management.
Publications and Scholarly Activity
Her current research interests include Industry 4.0 applications, artificial intelligence and machine learning in operations and supply chain management, particularly within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as AI in education, urban sustainability through crowdsourcing, maintenance optimization and project management. She has published and presented her work in various academic and professional settings, and continues to contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives.

Dr. Al-Hourani has received multiple accolades for her contributions to both academia and industry. She was recognized as the Most Active Professor in Student Activities by the College of Engineering at King Abdulaziz University and was awarded for Excellence in the Integration of Blackboard in Education.
