Shereen Kotb
Biography:
Shereen Kotb holds a Master of Arts in Political Science (2019) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (2016) from the University of British Columbia.
Expertise and Experience
Shereen teaches political science, moral philosophy, business ethics, and research methodology at UCW. Her approach to teaching seeks to ground material in ways that are accessible and relatable to students. She aims to expose students in her classes to a range of critical perspectives (including feminist, Marxist and Indigenous perspectives) and encourages students to recognize and critically interrogate the structures of power in their lives.
Publications and Scholarly Activity
Shereen’s research focuses on how the language around “security” and “threats” has shaped and constrained foreign policy options available to policymakers, particularly in the United States.
She is also interested in the politics of land and dispossession and, in particular, the creation of anti-colonial imaginations through literature and art.
Shereen has presented papers at conferences, including the BC Political Science Association Conference, in addition to publishing her work in academic journals.
