Dr. Tuhin Dey
Dr. Tuhin Dey holds a Doctorate in Learning Design and Technology and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Houston, Texas, USA, along with an MBA from the University of Calcutta.
Expertise and Experience
With over 18 years of experience in academia and industry, Dr. Tuhin Dey has held key academic and leadership roles at renowned North American institutions. Before joining University Canada West (UCW), he served as a Program Manager at Purdue University's College of Engineering (ranked among top 10 Engineering schools in the USA), where he led the design, development and production of highly ranked, large-scale STEM programs and projects. His work included collaborations with industry leaders, fortune 500 companies and contributions to US government-funded initiatives, such as semiconductor workforce development as part of the CHIPS and Science Act and U.S. Navy pilot programs. In addition, Dr. Dey has served as an external Learning and Development consultant for various organizations across the U.S. and Canada.
Dr. Dey’s research focuses on improving program quality, Self-Determination Theory (SDT) in teaching and learning, and enhancing student and instructor motivation. His work examines how instructor support and curriculum design enhance cultural competence and student engagement in diverse and Indigenous education. Using Self-Determination Theory, Indigenous research methodologies, and participatory action research, he develops evidence-based strategies for inclusive teaching that foster motivation, engagement and cross-cultural learning.
Publications and Awards
Dr. Dey actively contributes to scholarly publishing and academic conferences. He serves as an editorial board member for the Journal of Online Learning Research (JOLR), a reviewer for the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE) journals, and a conference program committee member. In these roles, he evaluates research, provides scholarly feedback and helps shape advancements in higher education.

Dr Dey is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) certification.
