Biography:

Dr. Özen Aşık earned her PhD at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2009. During her doctoral studies, she spent one year as a visiting PhD at the University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business between 2006 and 2007 where she conducted research toward her degree. She holds a master’s degree in Human Resource Management and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marmara University (2001). She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boğaziçi University in 1997.

Dr. Asikis a professor of Management and Organizational Studies and has taught Business Environment, Ethics, and Strategy (and course lead), Leadership in a Global Context, Human Interfaces, Leadership and Decision-Making, Canadian Human Resource Management, and Human Resource Management in the Global Environment at University Canada West.

She especially enjoys working with international students and strives to bring the best out of the diversity in her classroom.

Experience and Expertise

Dr. Asik worked as an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Vancouver for six years, then spent the next two years back in her native Turkey, where she earned the “Doçent” title, the equivalent of associate professor, before joining UCW.
