
Dr. Abedeh Gholidoust
Biography:
Dr. Abedeh Gholidoust has a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MSc and BSc in Chemical Engineering from Tehran Poly Technic University.
She currently teaches Business Analytics and Predictive Analytics at University Canada West.
Expertise and Experience
Dr. Gholidoust is passionate about science advocacy, business intelligence and communication. She served as a Business and Compliance Analyst with the peace officer sections at the City of Edmonton for four years and then joined the City of Vancouver as a Data Analyst in 2021. She also previously worked for the Government of Alberta in the Ministry of Economic Development and Trades, leading financial policies processes and system areas and providing leadership and support.
Dr. Gholidoust previously worked as a Research Engineer with the National Petrochemical Company of Iran and as a Research Scientist” with the Air liquid Company at ENSTA in Paris, France.
Publications and Scholarly Activity
Dr. Gholidoust is a mentor at the Center of Excellence at the University of Alberta.
Her major research areas include addressing diversity and inclusion in human resources, enforcement and the tech sector.
Volunteer Activity
When possible, Dr. Gholidoust volunteers for activities teaching children about science with the Center for Global Education.
In her spare time, Dr. Gholidoust maintains an active lifestyle, playing on a competitive women’s soccer team and an intramural volleyball team, practicing yoga and taking ice skating classes. She says that some of the most valuable learning experiences in her life have come from travelling. She has traveled solo throughout the UK, Australia and France. She describes the experiences gained when you immerse yourself into a different culture with only yourself as “exhilarating and eye-opening.”
