Champathi Tennakoon holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of West London and a Bachelor of Accounting (BSc) from Sri Lanka. In addition, Champathi is a Chartered Accountant from the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants – UK and an Associate Member of Chartered Management Accountants – UK. Champathi served on the ESG/Employability sub-committee of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) – Sri Lanka and extended his expertise to developing the skills of young, chartered management accountants.

Currently, he is reading for his PhD in Economics.

Expertise and Experience

Champathi has over a decade of experience in finance and accounting and has contributed to various industries, including manufacturing, construction, retail and plantation. He has held senior finance roles such as Head of Finance and Financial Controller in Sri Lanka. Champathi gained exposure to diverse cultures during his time setting up and expanding businesses in Sri Lanka, Singapore, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Maldives and Kenya.

Presently, Champathi works as a Senior Financial Analyst at Pattison Food Group.

He was a part of the Nanaska CIMA Faculty (former TOPCIMAPASS.COM) guiding CIMA

Publications and Scholarly Activity

Champathi co-authored “Challenges and opportunities for the recycling industry in developing countries: the case of Sri Lanka,” published in the Journal of Material Cycles and Waste Management in 2015.

He is passionate about management accounting, investment analysis and macroeconomics.

Awards

  • Team Winner for Best Project at Hayleys Group, 2015

 

Champathi spearheaded the ‘Behold the Turtle,’ a Sri Lankan sea turtle conservation project that has successfully conserved over 12,000 sea turtles from 2020-2023.
