Araz Rismani

Biography:

Araz Rismani has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic University. He is a Certified Human Resources Professional, CPHR BC & Yukon, and a certified Project Management Professional), PMI Institute.

Araz is currently a Sessional Faculty member at University Canada West teaching Leadership in the Global Context.

He believes the four critical areas paramount to his teaching success are Adult Learning Environment, Flexibility, Authenticity and Competence.

As a facilitator or teacher, he is responsible for establishing a successful adult learning environment, one that values and enables learning for both students and teacher. He is prepared to adopt multiple roles in the classroom (facilitator, teacher, instructor, coach, consultant, counselor, and mentor).

Authenticity is extremely important to Araz as a teacher. He believes that being genuine and modeling trust can significantly help establish a successful learning environment and maintain a collaborative climate in the classroom. In order to establish and maintain competence as a facilitator, he is skillful in the execution of both content (what a group is working on) and process (how a group works together).

Expertise and Experience

Araz has an extensive background in managing government contracts of up to $15 million dollars, leading and coaching teams up to 50 staff, and working collaboratively with senior leadership, internal and external stakeholders.

He has 12-plus years of operations and project management experience in corporate sector and non-profit organizations (S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Back in Motion Rehab Inc. and YWCA). And he has more than five years of experience in teaching business subjects with excellent references and outstanding student reviews (Kwantlen Polytechnic University, CPHR BC & Yukon, Canadian College).

  • City of Coquitlam, Economic Development and Multiculturalism Advisory Committees (2011 – 2020)
    • Was appointed by City Council for nine consecutive terms and served in two advisory committees; Advisory Committees consists of citizen representatives and one or two Council members
