The Program Curriculum Working Committees support the work of the Senate’s University Curriculum Committee (UCC), by providing direct guidance and oversight for all curricular changes. These working committees are tasked with ensuring that changes to the curriculum are only considered based on a complete proposal, as per guidelines provided by UCC and which support UCW’s Mission and strategic directions.

Statement 1: Why are you interested in serving on this committee, and what do you hope to contribute during your term?
I am deeply interested in serving on this Committee because curriculum is at the heart of academic quality and student success. As an educator and researcher, I have always sought to ensure that programs reflect not only disciplinary rigor but also inclusion, equity, cultural diversity, and responsiveness to the rapidly changing global context. My research in globalization, cultural identity, and gender issues has taught me how essential it is to integrate the perspectives
Statement 2: What relevant curriculum, quality assurance and program development experience do you have to contribute to this committee?
Through my teaching and program contributions across UCW, Douglas College, and KPU and Laval University, I have designed and revised undergraduate and graduate courses in communication, anthropology, sociology and cultural studies, aligning them with learning outcomes, institutional standards, and student needs. In addition, my service and field research with the Canadian Cooperation and United Nations helped me to connect academia with real-world issues, professional and global competencies.

I have been on this committee for the past 2 years and wish to continue contributing, especially now with major proposals for new programs. With rapid technological changes, and evolving government educational policies, it is vital to rethink our curriculum. I aim to support interdisciplinary reforms that foster innovation while addressing societal challenges, and integrate emerging technologies like AI so our programs remain dynamic, inclusive, and future-ready.

Having served as Faculty, Department Chair, Chair of Quality Assurance, Program Director, University Registrar, and member of academic committees and councils, I bring extensive expertise in curriculum design, accreditation readiness, and program evaluation. I have led quality assurance initiatives, developed innovative economics curricula, and worked with academic bodies to align programs with national and international standards.

With 19 years in Higher Education, having previously taught at SFU, UBC, and private universities, I bring deep academic and administrative experience to UCW. As a previous Academic Director, I led curriculum reviews, DQAB reports and presentations. I am interested in serving to support UCW’s academic quality and growth, and I hope to contribute my insight, professionalism, and practical knowledge to the committee’s work.
Over 19 years of teaching at the university level in B.C., I’ve designed and delivered many courses, as well as an internship program for student career readiness. As a past Academic Director at a private university in B.C., I redesigned courses based on DQAB feedback, wrote consent for renewal reports, launched new programs, mapped CLOs to PLOs, and created and delivered DQAB presentations. The DQAB Chair personally acknowledged my work. I believe I’d be a strong fit for this committee at UCW.
Candidates for Graduate Faculty Members
I value opportunities where I can help close gaps effectively. This committee offers a chance to improve programs, and I can contribute insights from my research on Generative AI and its impact on the economy. I bring a perspective on integrating technology and AI into the curriculum and have prior curriculum development experience that I’d love to apply here.
I have served on curriculum committees and developed one master’s course and two undergraduate courses. Also, two of my colleagues and I piloted a simulation program for an MBA course, which was successful and later adopted across all sections. With this experience and my research focus, I can meaningfully contribute to curriculum review and program development at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
As the department Chair of LPM, I’m involved in the curriculum development, changes, and approvals for all courses including the core courses, elective pathways and new MBA specializations. I’m also part of the Chairs working group for MBA reconsent application. I hope to strive towards achieving alignment between the curriculum changes, department expectations, and DQAB requirements. My participation in this committee will further support the alignment.

I am interested in joining the Program Curriculum Working Committee because my academic and professional experience has consistently focused on curriculum design, teaching innovation, and integrating technology into education. Having developed and revised course materials I bring both practical and scholarly perspectives to curriculum development.
I was department representative during our last MBA cycle review, so I bring relevant experience to the team. I am also a member of the 'Quality Assurance' committee, and I have developed some of the HR elective courses from scratch for UCW and revised course assignments and assessments across multiple sections to ensure academic integrity and alignment with learning outcomes. These experiences position me to add value to the committee’s work in strengthening the curriculum.
I would like to promote that the new / updated UCW offerings provide students with a balance between academic theory and practical application, including assessments that enables students to think out of the box instead of the normal APA formats. Promoting benchmarking against similar courses offered by other higher education institutions to ensure UCW remains relevant and competitive.
At my previous university where I was a chair, I was actively involved in curriculum development and quality assurance cycles. At UCW, I participated in the MBA ON revamp initiated by Stephanie and had my course revamp successfully approved and implemented.
I am interested in serving on the Program Curriculum Working Committee because curriculum design and renewal are vital to shaping student success and UCW’s reputation. My teaching and program development experience shows how well-structured curricula bridge academic knowledge and real-world application. With 30+ years as an architect and 10+ years as a project manager, I bring extensive expertise in planning, quality assurance, and stakeholder engagement. As a UCW Associate Professor, I design and teach graduate project management courses, contribute to curriculum renewal, and help develop new master’s program Proposals. My combined industry and academic experience equips me to critically review curricula, strengthen quality, and ensure programs remain relevant and future-focused.

I bring experience in developing curricula for marketing courses, where I independently designed and delivered content at the University of Manitoba. This training equipped me with skills in curriculum design, quality assurance, and innovation. As someone who has recently transitioned out of a PhD program and started working as a continuing faculty, I believe I bring a blend of experience as an international student during the study program and on the job market alongside the instruction expertise. During my PhD at the University of Alberta, I was on that committee that built a PhD-level course on the philosophy of science. In addition, for the past 9 months, I have been learning about the amazing UCW students through my teaching and modifying of my courses to fit their needs. I have taken the initiative to complete the Certificate in online learning from Duke University as well to ensure I have the knowledge to build unique curriculum.
I am interested in serving because I enjoy working on curriculum development and improving program quality. As Course Lead for Digital Transformation, I have recently updated course outlines, and I want to bring that experience to support UCW’s mission. I hope to contribute by sharing ideas, reviewing curriculum, and ensuring programs meet both academic and industry needs.
I have experience as a member of the BAIT program development team and as an internal reviewer for the Master of IT Management program. I have worked on updating course outlines, aligning learning outcomes, and supporting program quality. These roles have given me practical knowledge of curriculum design, quality assurance, and program development, which I can bring to this committee.
I have been part of the “ MSE Dept. Internal Curriculum Committee” at UCW, which helped in preparation for ACBSP Re-Accreditation Process Report. The objective was to ensure that the program’s learning outcomes, assessments, and competencies reflect both academic excellence and industry relevance. My experience at this committee has motivated me to nominate myself for PCWC. I can contribute in reviewing and approving courses, program changes, ensure academic quality and alignment with standards.

- As Associate Dean at the University of Tehran, my former institution, I led a comprehensive revision of one BSc, three MSc, and one PhD program curricula, gaining solid experience in curriculum creation and revision.

Responsibilities
- Oversee new courses and course updates for graduate and undergraduate programs, including calls for applications, new, revised, or discontinued courses.
- Work with UCC to develop the criteria and guidelines for Course Outlines/Syllabi.
- Receive and review all new, revised, and discontinued course outlines that require UCC approval.
- Refine submissions where needed to forward and recommend to UCC for approval.
- Advise and make recommendations to UCC on policies that impact curriculum (such as Policy 5012 – Course Syllabus).
- Provide resolutions, explanations for outstanding issues in proposals and curriculum submissions for recommendation to the University Curriculum Committee.
