Student Experience Survey FAQs
What is the UCW Student Experience Survey (SES)?
The SES was comprised of two pan-institutional surveys – the Canadian University Survey Consortium (CUSC) survey for undergraduate students and the Canadian Graduate and Professional Student Survey (CGPSS) for graduate students. Conducting both surveys simultaneously let UCW collect feedback from the entire student population.
Why did UCW participate in CUSC and CGPSS?
CUSC and CGPSS helped UCW evaluate student perspectives and satisfaction with UCW, quality of teaching, support and services. Our goal was to derive actionable insights and help improve the student experience. We also had an opportunity to see how UCW fares in comparison to our peer institutions.
When was the survey conducted?
The survey started on January 28, 2025 and closed on April 15, 2025. Students received an email invitation with a unique survey link, which they could complete any time they wished before the survey closed. Students could only complete the survey once and the estimated completion time was up to 20 minutes, depending on how long they took to review their responses.
Who participated in the survey?
All UCW students who were enrolled and completing courses at the time of the survey start date (January 28) were invited to participate.
How was the survey distributed to students?
Graduate students received a survey invitation and reminders from cgpss-ecemd@fse.ulaval.ca between January 28 to April 15. Emails were sent to students' myucanwest.ca inboxes.
Where were be the results shared?
UCW Institutional Accountability facilitated a wide distribution of the results as well as presentations to key groups such as Executives, faculty, and program leadership.
Who should I contact if I have questions about the surveys or UCW’s participation?
Please contact Adrian Mitescu, Director, Institutional Accountability (IA), and the IA team at ia@ucanwest.ca.
