Biography:

Teresita Dela Cruz has a Master of Education (Educational Administration) and a BSc in Home Economics. She has two Financial Planning Certifications – Life License Qualification Program and RESP Dealers Association of Canada Sales Representative Proficiency Course – Continuing Studies (Writing and Publishing Courses) and a Legal Secretary Honours Diploma (Accelerated Program).

She teaches Current Issues in Communication and Media and Communication Capstone 2 at University Canada West (UCW).

Expertise and Experience

Teresita has extensive experience in teaching and curriculum development. In addition to UCW, she has also taught at Acsenda School of Management, Sprott-Shaw International Language College and Sprott-Shaw College in Vancouver, and West Visayas State University and Philippine Normal University in the Philippines.

She has developed curriculum for several courses including Communication for Leaders 1 and 2 (Master of Management), English for Academic Purposes Program (EAP) - Levels 1 to 4, Academic English and Success Skills Program (AESSP) - Levels 1 and 2, and Business English.

Teresita also has experience editing textbooks and supplementary materials for public elementary and secondary schools in the Philippines.

In the classroom, she aims to help students untap their potentials, discover their passion, and learn the necessary skills so they will live life to the fullest.

Hotel and Tourism Management – English Communications Series (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) With accompanying Teacher’s Manual (2006) - co-authored

Teresita’s research interests include: mitigating the impact of poverty, discrimination and bias to the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of society, and overcoming cultural and language barriers – helping new immigrants (including international students) live a better life in Canada.
