Biography:

Tara Clowes has a Master of Business Administration degree with a major in International Business and a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting from Dalhousie University. She is a fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants (legacy Chartered Accountant) and is currently completing her Doctorate of Business Administration at Athabasca University.

She teaches Financial Management at University Canada West.

Expertise and Experience

Tara’s professional experience is primarily as a senior or executive leader in the public sector, and professional accounting practice. Through those roles, she has had responsibility for budgets upwards of $200 million, large teams of employees, accounting compliance, strategic leadership and asset management.

Tara is an experienced instructor in accounting, tax, and finance teaching both undergraduate and graduate students. She has also worked with Vancouver Community College, Langara College, Aurora College, and through the CPA professional education program.

Scholarly Activity
Tara’s field of study is expectation performance gaps in professional competency development, with a specific focus on taxation competencies.

She sees her classrooms as spaces where students learn through doing, and to develop and refine skills that are highly sought after by employers.

Tara currently lives on Vancouver Island with her husband, young children and two doodles.
