Biography:

Saquib Anwar has a PhD and a Master of Science in Information Systems from Memorial University of Newfoundland, an MBA from Temple University and  Bachelor of Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  

His teaching areas include Quantitative Reasoning and Analysis, Business Statistics, Information Systems and Operations Management. 

Expertise and Experience 

Saquib currently serves as Enterprise Architect for the City of Vancouver, providing strategic advice in Information Technology (IT) innovation, planning and governance. Some of his key initiatives include serving as the Technical Lead in the City’s Vacancy Tax project, and reengineering the City’s Permits, Licensing and Property Management System. Prior to moving to Vancouver, Saquib led enterprise-wide ERP systems roll out projects at City of St. John’s, NL.  

Publications and Scholarly Activity 

Saquib’s research interests include agile systems development and technical product lifecycle, on which he published conference papers at the Americas Conference on Information Systems (2010) and the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (2011). 

Awards and Volunteer Activities 

Saquib received several research grants and scholarships during his academic studies and has been on the Dean’s and Provost’s lists. He served as referee for several conferences and journals and has been one of the key organizers of the programs and proceeding of the Association for Information Systems (AIS): Ninth Symposium on Research in Systems Analysis and Design, St. John’s, May 2010. He presented scholarly papers at The University of British Columbia (2012), Memorial University of Newfoundland (2011), and Fairleigh Dickinson University (2011/2012).
