
Samin Peyman
Biography:
Samin Peyman has a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and she has a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), TESL Ontario and TESL Canada.
Samin is currently a Sessional Faculty member at University Canada West teaching University Access Course (UAC) 030 and English 100.
Through her teaching philosophy, Samin aims to optimize students’ learning by providing a supportive environment while facilitating students’ independence. She is a practitioner of “Communicative Language Teaching” methodology or the communicative approach, which is based on interaction and contributes to a better and faster learning. However, she incorporates a variety of teaching methods to accommodate a wide range of learning styles such as lectures, group projects, discussions, reading and writing assignments, debates, and presentations according to students’ needs and the objective of the course. Samin’s classes are student-centered, dynamic, properly paced and include both peer and teacher feedback. Her goal is to improve the learners’ English and communication skills as well as their critical thinking. In addition, she emphasizes the significance of lifelong learning and encourages her students to grow knowledge and improve their skills beyond the classroom.
Expertise and Experience
Samin has been teaching English, Communications and Business Communication at a variety of colleges and universities both online and face-to-face for over 15 years. Besides teaching at UCW, she has taught at Canadian College of English Language (in Vancouver), Musashino University (in Tokyo, Japan), York University, and Seneca and Sheridan colleges (in Toronto, Ontario).
