Biography:

Lok Pokhrel teaches Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, English (EAP) and Business courses at University Canada West. He has also taught Mass Media Research Methods, Mass Media & Society, Public Relations, PR and Marketing Capstone (Campaigns) courses.

Lok completed his Doctoral (PhD/ABD) candidacy in Communication at Washington State University. He has 3 master’s degrees & an MA in Human Communication and Social Influence from Georgia State University, an MA in English Language and Literature from Tribhuvan University and an MA in Journalism and Mass Communication from Purbanchal University.

Lok has taught for more than 10 years at public universities in the United States, including Southeast Missouri State University (Assistant Professor/Instructor at ACEJMC accredited journalism/communication school), Minnesota State University (Assistant Professor) and Washington State University (Instructor).

Lok is actively engaged in research (some award-winning research projects), presented at top international conferences including International Communication Association (ICA), Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and National Communication Association (NCA) for the past several years.

Before academia, Lok worked as a public relations and communications professional in the banking sector for 3 years, and at the United Nations as a Public Information Officer.
