Biography:

Dr. Tongpil Min holds a PhD from Washington State University at Pullman, WA.

Dr. Min teaches science in the undergraduate program at University Canada West.

Experience and Expertise

After earning his PhD, Dr. Min worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University in New York. After his son was born with severe hemophilia A, he looked for a lab where he could develop projects related to half-life elongated treatment factors. As a result, he joined Columbia University in New York. After a couple of years, he and his family immigrated to Canada. Dr. Min worked as a scientist at the National Research Council Canada while also working on his hemophilia project.

By the time he and his family moved to Vancouver, his son was diagnosed with high-functioning autism. From that moment, he decided to change his field from science to educational strategy development for his autistic child. The process of development and application has taken more than seven years. By the time his son was able to complete his schoolwork with minimum support, Dr. Min realized that the methods he developed are not only relevant for students with special needs. They could be applied to anyone regardless of their field of study, including students. Thus, he has adopted these novel methods in his teaching at UCW.
