Dr. Saman Ronagh has a PhD in finance from the joint PhD program offered by Concordia, McGill and HEC universities. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he earned an MBA in Finance, building on the analytical and problem-solving skills established during his Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical Engineering. This interdisciplinary background fueled his interest in integrating technical and quantitative expertise with the analytical aspects of finance and business.

Expertise and Experience

Dr. Ronagh has extensive teaching experience. Before joining University Canada West, he was an Assistant Professor at the Shannon School of Business, Cape Breton University. He also gained significant teaching experience at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University during his PhD studies. Beyond academia, Dr. Ronagh has worked as a financial analyst, auditor and instructor in the finance industry.

Dr. Ronagh's teaching philosophy is based on constructivism and emphasizes critical thinking, engagement, and collaboration. He incorporates practical projects, financial software, and real-world case studies to bridge the gap between theory and practice, ensuring students engage with real-time data and problems and develop a comprehensive understanding of financial concepts.

Dr. Ronagh is also active in financial markets as an analyst and is currently pursuing the CFA designation to further enhance his practical expertise.

Publications and Scholarly Activity

Dr. Ronagh’s research focuses on empirical corporate finance, with a particular emphasis on corporate governance, ownership structure, venture capital, IPO, and organizational capital. His active research agenda includes projects at various stages, including R&R, under review, and in-progress, aiming at publishing in leading finance journals. He also holds a registered patent.
