Intro

Dr. Neehal Mooruth is a business improvement consultant with over 14 years of experience in the realms of manufacturing, oil and gas, and higher education at leading global organizations. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from the American Society for Quality and holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, as well as a BSc in Chemical Engineering. Neehal has extensive experience in managing business operations for clients and organizations to ensure services are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner.

He is a sessional faculty member and teaches the course Operations Management.

Dr. Mooruth’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the conviction that active learning is essential for deep understanding and intellectual growth. He is dedicated to cultivating a dynamic and interactive classroom environment where students are actively engaged with the material, encouraged to question assumptions, and participate in hands-on activities. By promoting a collaborative and inquiry-based approach, Dr. Mooruth empowers students to take charge of their learning journey, develop critical thinking skills, and apply their knowledge to real-world situations.

Expertise and Experience

He has more than fourteen years in industrial and manufacturing operations management. He has managed engineering projects in Africa, USA and Canada. He also has three years of experience as an assistant lecturer at the University of Cape Town.

Publications and Scholarly Activity

His research interests have largely been focused on designing processes and equipment to tackle real-world problems, by utilizing sustainable process engineering techniques, as well as flexible operations management solutions to meet the ever-changing demands faced by businesses in the 21st century.
