
Dr. Hala Fendi
Biography:
Dr. Hala Fendi has a PhD, MSc and BSc in Architecture Engineering Technology, as well as an Instructor Diploma, LEED and Project Management Institute certificate, and is in the process of becoming a Certified Change Management Professional. She also has a Master of Engineering Leadership in Urban System from the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Fendi considers it her responsibility as an educator to help students acquire specific knowledge while developing the attitudes and skills that are essential to professional practice. She aims to create a curriculum where students are empowered to think critically, creatively, and productively, to pursue means to achieve their learning goals, to accept and embrace constructive feedback about their work and develop as self-evaluator.
Expertise and Experience
Dr. Fendi has extensive experience as a project architect, project manager, as well as architecture instructor, and educator in management and leadership.
As a PMP certified project manager, and during her work with MG Architects, Diction and Al Bayan Consultants, she acquired the ability to identify and analyze problems to synthesize social and economic facts into livable proposals, with the knowledge, techniques and skills required to meet the challenges of global growth.
While completing her master’s degree at UBC, she conducted high-efficiency quantitative proposals and projects, along with a team of engineers, through Metro Vancouver municipalities corporation and assistance, like Blatchford City Development Project in Edmonton.
Dr. Fendi has experience developing course syllabi for business and management courses and teaching online and in class, with extensive experience in managing teams and projects and more than 14 years as an instructor and educator.
Her passion for academia is complemented by the concept of sustainable design and planning projects, which can provide present requirements while preserving the environment and future resources.
Scholarly Activity
Dr. Fendi has worked with the City University of Seattle in Canada, and many other universities, to develop course outlines for the project management courses, and effectively lectured project management courses, including Budget and Cost Estimate, Time and Resource Management, Risk Management and Risk Mitigation, Procurement Management, Agile Project Management, and Organizational Behavior and Stakeholder Management.
She also assisted professors in creating lesson plans and offer suggestions on how best to motivate students to engage with the instructor and understand course materials.
