Dr. Asif Ali Rahman
Dr. Asif Ali Rahman has a PhD in Human Resource Development from the University of Regina, Canada, an MBA in International Business from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and an MBA in Management from University of Central Punjab, Pakistan. He has also obtained a Chartered Professional of Human Resources designation (BC and Yukon).
Dr. Rahmas currently teaches Talent Management, HR Strategy, Recruiting & Retaining Talent, and Management & Employee Relations courses at University Canada West.
Expertise and Experience
Dr. Rahman serves as an Assistant Professor of Leadership and People Management (LPM) at University Canada West. He holds a PhD from the University of Regina, where his doctoral research explored the low transfer rate of training and its contextual factors. Dr. Rahman’s current research focuses on the intersection of transfer of training, higher education and human resource development. He is particularly passionate about introducing a novel determinant of training transfer, which he terms "productive networking," with the goal of developing this concept into a comprehensive theory.
Prior to joining UCW, Dr. Rahman held teaching positions at the Kenneth Levene Graduate School of Business at the University of Regina and the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University, alongside over two decades of teaching experience at international institutions. In addition to his academic roles, he has held senior management positions, trained employees across private and public sectors, and taught a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses. Dr. Rahman has published peer-reviewed research, conducted applied studies with practical implications, and designed impactful educational experiences. His expertise spans curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, online and multimedia teaching, adult learning strategies and managing large classes.
