
Dr. Arifusalam Shaikh
Biography:
Dr. Arifusalam Shaikh has a Doctorate in Management Science from Kent School of Business, University of Kent, a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, a bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering and he completed his post-doctoral fellowship in Operations Management at Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada.
He has also earned APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and Teaching Skills Enhancement Program (TSEP) designations.
Dr. Shaikh currently teaches BUSI 660 – Small Business Management at University Canada West.
Expertise and Experience
Dr. Shaikh has worked at various international business schools as an Assistant Professor at Prince Mohammad University (Saudi Arabia), Sessional Instructor at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (Canada) and Summer Faculty in different institutions in China. In the past, he also worked as Lecturer in Industrial Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia).
He also worked as a Project Manager for a translational research and development project that focused on innovation management, and as a Project Lead for a Coding for Success project, and as an Employment Program Manager at Association for New Canadians in St. John’s, NL.
He also co-founded a start-up company SkillsHawk, which based at St John’s, Canada.
Publications and Scholarly Activity
Dr. Shaikh is passionate about innovation and has research interests in entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship education and translational research focusing on students, faculty, and entrepreneurial ecosystem. He has been instrumental in university collaboration on entrepreneurship research between universities in Canada and Middle East.
Dr. Shaikh is an active researcher and has published several peer reviewed articles in international journals and presented his work at several international conferences in the areas of entrepreneurship, optimization, risk management, scheduling, knowledge management, operations management, supply chain management, simulation, and cloud computing, among others.
