Biography:
Shin-RU (Cynthia) He obtained her MA in Second Language Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2013 and her Bachelor of Arts in Web Page, Digital/Multimedia and Information Resources Design from Shih Hsin University in 2007. She earned her CELTA certificate from Cambridge English Language Assessment in 2013.
Cynthia has taught at UCW since 2018 teaching Business & Academic Writing and Academic Writing.
She speaks English, German, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese.
Expertise and Experience
Cynthia has taught and conducted research in post-secondary settings in the U.S., Japan, Thailand and Canada for the last 10 years. She was a Project Coordinator at Kanda University of International Studies (KUIS) leading the curriculum reform project in the Department of International Communication. She created and taught new courses at KUIS while actively presenting her research at both domestic and international conferences including Psychology of Language Learning 2018 and JALT National 2017 in Tokyo.
The motto “Tell me and I will forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I will learn” is at the core of her teaching philosophy. Learning from and with her students is her favorite part of teaching. She finds the opportunity to create meaningful learning experiences with her students highly motivating.
