You’ve decided to apply to UCW. Now what? I know you’re probably wondering what to do next, but don’t worry, I was there too and can guide you.

I am now one year away from finishing my studies, and from here, the panorama looks very different from the one I had when first researching UCW, Vancouver and this big step. This step involved leaving my home country and family and studying a program in a language that was new to me. So far, it’s been one of the best decisions in my life.

Just like me when I started, you must be wondering what should I do now? I know which program I want to take, Vancouver is a spectacular city and Canada offers exceptional programs to live and work in even after I finish my degree, but where do I start? *Insert screams of anxiety and emotion*

The answer is simple, and it is that this new process you are about to start has a path; that is to say, there is a process that must be followed step by step to do it correctly. In my case, it was really easy. It went something like this:

  1. I researched the academic programs UCW offered according to my needs, interests and career aspirations.
  2. After deciding on the program, I contacted a UCW advisor through the University’s website.
  3. I discussed with the advisor my questions, uncertainties and doubts about the University, what I wanted to study, the city and every detail I could think of.
  4. Once I answered those questions, I went to the University website and clicked on the “apply now” button.

This last step seemed so far and difficult until I realized UCW makes it so easy to apply. I didn’t need a visa or immigration process to do this. So remember, to apply to the University, you don’t need to do anything with the Canadian government yet. I also didn’t need to pay for my application.

  1. When I applied, I uploaded all the documents the University required from me.

OMG documents? THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING I DON’T HAVE! Trust me, there’s an 80% chance that you already have them all. And if you don’t, they are really easy to get. Some of these documents were my high school diploma, my last year’s grades, and my English certification. Very simple right? No need to panic.

  1. After applying, I only had to wait a few weeks, as usual, until I received an email stating that my application had been approved and that I could continue with the process.

I want to emphasize that during the whole process, the University provided me with support through an advisor, at no cost, who answered every question I had.

From then on, I could finish the process and then continue with the immigration processes that were required according to my profile and nationality.

Sometimes we feel closer to a dream that doesn’t seem to be true – that there should be something more complicated than this. That’s how I felt. But the truth is that UCW makes the application process very easy.

I encourage you to follow that hunch. If you have already done your checklist and research and feel this could be the way to go, don’t hesitate any longer. Best regards, and see you soon on campus :)
