University Canada West (UCW) is now recognized as an approved AWS Academy, a program spearheaded by the global tech powerhouse Amazon Web Services (AWS) that offers higher education institutions a ready-to-teach cloud computing curriculum developed by AWS experts.

Today, professionals with cloud skills are in high demand as more and more organizations invest in their future with the cloud. “This partnership underscores our commitment to equipping our students with sought-after qualifications in today’s tech-driven landscape,” said Dr. Maureen Mancuso, Vice President, Academic at UCW.

UCW, now a part of this esteemed network, will ensure that its students receive hands-on training in practical cloud skills that help increase ROI and accelerate business results.

With AWS Academy, UCW MBA students will be equipped with the in-demand, competitive skills they need to land high-quality jobs and pursue industry-recognized certifications. This solution-driven curriculum includes a variety of courses about the cloud, including cloud foundations, developing cloud technologies, building the IT infrastructure on AWS, artificial intelligence, machine learning and how to pursue desirable DevOps, support and cloud operations roles and more.

The University’s recent Fall 2023 Term witnessed the successful launch of this program’s pilot phase with BUSI 653: Cloud Computing Technologies. The initiation was a great success with students actively engaging in the curriculum, setting the stage for a transformative learning experience. Many of its students are now gearing up to undertake AWS certification exams.

UCW MBA students are granted a $100 USD AWS platform credit so they don’t have to use their own credit cards to sign up. Added bonuses of the class include access to select AWS services for project work, lab exercises and practice. This financial support eliminates any potential barriers to exploration and encourages students to actively engage with the AWS platform.

The benefits of this program also extend to UCW faculty as well.

As part of the AWS Academy program, UCW faculty receive complimentary training, a valuable resource that keeps them abreast of the latest advancements in cloud technologies. In addition to training, faculty are provided with AWS exam vouchers and have the opportunity to earn coveted Certified Trainer badges, offering them the opportunity to validate their proficiency through AWS certification exams and add a prestigious layer to their credentials.
