Dr. Diljot Kaur Soin
Biography:
Diljot Kaur Soin has a PhD in Organizational/Industrial Psychology, a Master of Arts in Psychology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, and a Diploma in Training and Development.
She is currently Associate Professor at University Canada West and also serving as the interim Chair of Leadership and People Management Department. Her teaching interests are in the areas of organizational behaviour, human resource management, training and development, and mental health.
Dr. Soin’s teaching philosophy focuses on self-directed experiential learning by developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills amongst students, which leads to practice-based learning. To make this course meaningful and relevant she follows the HBS model in the classroom by discussing best practices in the industry through real-life case studies. Students get the opportunity to delve deeper into critically analyzing these best practices and develop skills to offer constructive improvements through the application of conceptual and firm specific skills in the field of organizational behaviour and human resources management.
Expertise and Experience
Dr. Soin is a CPHR in good standing with Chartered Professionals in Human Resources, British Columbia and Yukon, holds SHRM-SCP (Senior Certified Professional) designation with SHRM, USA, and SHRM-PASC (People Analytics Speciality Credential).
She has more than 18 years of experience in research, teaching and training wherein she undertook graduate and post-graduate programs at the college, university and executive education levels. As part of her industry experience, Dr. Soin worked in the Training and Development of Administrative Human Resources at a premier Administrative Training Institute wherein she designed and coordinated management/executive development programs for government functionaries and corporate executives. Dr. Soin undertook curriculum development projects at higher secondary institutions and coordinated HR consultancy projects like manpower audit and implementation, impact assessment studies, employee-well being assessment, safe return to school filling project.
As part of her industry experience, Dr. Soin worked in the Training and Development of Administrative Human Resources at a premier Administrative Training Institute wherein she designed and coordinated management/executive development programs for government functionaries and corporate executives.
Dr. Soin is a certified Mental Health Trainer (SIU, Sweden) and Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC (BC Association of Clinical Counsellors).
In her free time, Dr. Soin enjoys mindfulness, exercising, travelling, interacting with people from different backgrounds and learning about the historical significance of diverse cultures and heritage monuments.

Her research interests are in the areas of organizational behaviour, human resource management, training and development, psychology and mental health. Dr. Soin has published papers on organizational psychology, human resource management, mental health, and undertook research projects with UFV and SFU.
