
Aida Kazemi
Biography:
Aida Kazemi has a Master of Arts in Economics from Simon Fraser University and a Master of Science in Economics and Social Systems Engineering from Institute for Management and Planning Studies (IMPS).
She is currently a Sessional Faculty member at University Canada West teaching Ethics, CSR and Business Environment and Business Economics.
Aida’s teaching philosophy is centered around the flipped classroom strategy and the high engagement of students in class discussions. She believes that students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process and have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in real-life situations.
Expertise and Experience
Aida has been living her dream job of teaching. This was inspired by the amazing teachers she had who changed her professional life pathway and made her think of teaching and educating a rewarding profession.
She brings seven-plus years of teaching experiences at undergraduate and graduate levels. Aida has taught at multiple institutions in Iran and Canada including the Institute for Management and Planning Studies, Simon Fraser University, and Yorkville University.
Aida’s industry experience in Canada includes serving as Research Assistant at Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE), at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of British Columbia under supervision of Dr. Mohsen Sadatsafavi. During this time, she developed and published various R programming packages relating to various prediction models.

Aida has been fortunate to inherit the Azerbaijani language from her grandparents and she is committed to preserving this cultural heritage. She takes great pleasure in conversing with others in Azerbaijani, as it allows her to connect with her roots and foster a sense of belonging.
As a native speaker of Farsi, she finds constant inspiration in the profound metaphors of the language. This fascination with Farsi has led her to develop a passion for calligraphy. She has dedicated herself to practicing calligraphy since she was 8 years old.
Aida loves exploring the world, new cultures, diverse cuisine, new places and landmarks. Given her academic background in Economics, she approaches these experiences with that perspective, analyzing the various socio-economic aspects of the places she visits. She has had the chance to visit several countries across Europe, including Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy and France.
These journeys have enriched her understanding of different societies, broadened her horizons and deepened her appreciation for global diversity.
Her hobbies include skiing in wintertime and hiking in summertime. She loves connecting with nature and challenge herself physically. She also loves photography, specifically when it comes to photographing nature.
