Georgia Straight weaves high profile UCW visitor into comedic look at Brexit

Charlie Smith, the editor of The Georgia Straight, Canada’s largest urban weekly, put pen to paper about Brexit, the move to see Britain leave the European Union, on June 23. That’s the day the United Kingdom’s eligible voters were voting on a referendum about Brexit. With the outcome still to be known on the vote, Smith saw political satire in the coincidental timing of two famous British comedians’ impending performance together in Vancouver in October. He noted that while Vancouverites can look forward to being regaled by John Cleese and Eric Idle, two comedians with opposing views on Brexit, they had a chance to get a good education from Lord David Blunkett when he spoke at UCW.
