The Fall 2021 Term at University Canada West is almost here. Students will be returning to campus and many will be experiencing the beautiful Vancouver House Campus for the first time.

The state-of-the-art UCW Vancouver House Campus has a number of fun and cool things to do, in addition to having inspirational learning spaces.

Check out this list of five fun things to see or explore on or around the campus in the Beach District.

1. Visit the green wall

The Vancouver House Campus reception desk in the UCW West Building is home to a breathtaking floor-to-ceiling green wall filled with moss, plants and shrubs.

UCW takes pride in the sustainability of the Vancouver House Campus, and the green wall is a symbol of the commitment to being environmentally friendly.

2. Watch the Spinning Chandelier

While Vancouver’s famous Spinning Chandelier isn’t inside the Vancouver House Campus, it is just steps away, and a beautiful sight to take in.

The Spinning Chandelier is a kinetic sculpture designed by local Vancouver artist Rodney Graham.

Every day, the chandelier spins three times a day – at noon, 4 pm and 9 pm – so students can stop by during a study break to see it in motion.

3. Play a game of pinball

Up for a game of pinball? The Vancouver House West Building has two pinball machines in The Arcade near the third-floor student lounge.

Students looking for a break from their studies or those looking for something fun to do between classes can stop by the Star Wars and the Beatles pinball machines. Each UCW student gets a free game each day by tapping their UCW ID Card. After that, a student’s print account will be charged only 25 cents per game.

4. Take a selfie with a mural

The Vancouver House Campus features several stunning murals created by local artists.

These murals are perfect photo opportunities! Take a selfie with the murals and tag us at @university_canada_west on Instagram when you post it – you could even be featured on UCW’s official social media accounts. There is a mural of downtown Vancouver, murals by indigenous artists in each student lounge, a “Going West” mural and more. Explore the campus to see what’s there.

5. Enjoy the parks and recreational areas surrounding the campus

The Vancouver House Campus is steps away from popular tourist destinations like Sunset Beach, English Bay and the Vancouver Seawall, which is the world’s longest uninterrupted waterfront path.

During a student’s free time, they can enjoy the beautiful views and scenery that Vancouver has to offer, just a few minutes away from campus.
