UCW announces Dr. Brad O’Hara as VP, Academic and Students
Vancouver, BC—University Canada West (UCW) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Brad O’Hara to the position of Vice-President, Academic and Students.
“Dr. O’Hara will play a key role in advancing the University,” according to UCW President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arthur Coren. “With more than 20 years’ experience working within post-secondary institutions across Canada and the United States, his expertise will be an asset in supporting UCW as an innovative and career-focused university.”
Dr. O’Hara joins UCW from his previous role as Provost and Vice-President, Academic and Students, at Langara College. In this position he led the development of the college’s first academic plan, oversaw the implementation of several newly established academic programs and facilitated the creation of agreements and accords with institutions designed to enhance student opportunity and mobility. Prior to this, he held similar positions with the University of Louisiana System (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) and the Southeastern Louisiana University (Hammond, Louisiana).
“I look forward to working with faculty, staff and students on a variety of initiatives in my new role at UCW,” stated Dr. O’Hara. “The university’s acquisition by Global University Systems (GUS) last November provides a catalyst to expand academic offerings, increase student enrolments and the international reach of the institution.”
Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Dr. O’Hara holds a Ph.D. in marketing from Louisiana State University, along with a MBA and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor. He has lectured extensively abroad and holds a well-established publishing record.
