UCW launches Associate of Arts degree

Vancouver, June 18, 2018 – University Canada West (UCW) now offers an Associate of Arts degree.

This 60-credit (20 course) program will provide students with a broad foundation of knowledge that will prepare them for further post-secondary studies or to enter the workforce.

The program was recently approved by the BC Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. It will be offered on-campus and online.

“We’re thrilled to receive the news that we can offer the Associate of Arts Degree,” said Dr. Arthur Coren, UCW President and Vice-Chancellor.

“We’ve worked hard to make this degree available to our students. We see a need for this degree and it will fit well with the other degree offerings at University Canada West.”

The Associate of Arts degree will be third undergraduate degree offered at UCW.

It will join the ACBSP-accredited Bachelor of Commerce and the Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication.

UCW also offers a Master of Business Administration graduate degree, as well as preparatory programs.

“This degree will allow students to start their post-secondary education at UCW and full-time students can earn their degree in less than two years,” Dr. Coren said.

“This credential will set them up to pursue a baccalaureate degree at UCW or other BC degree-granting institutions if other entrance requirements are met.”

UCW Academic Advisors will help students with course selection to meet their post-secondary education goals.

The program includes courses in English, science, humanities and social sciences.

“The Associate of Arts degree is a great springboard to additional post-secondary education,” Dr. Coren said. “The program will expose students to a broad range of subjects and allow them to choose an academic path.”

The Associate of Arts degree will be available at University Canada West starting in the Fall 2018 term.
